Biography
Mr. Joseph H. Kim is an immigration attorney whose practice focuses on employer-sponsored business immigration matters. He represents U.S. and multinational companies in a broad range of non-immigrant and immigrant visa matters, including L-1, E-1/E-2, H-1B, EB-1C, EB-2, and EB-3 cases. His work centers on helping employers secure and retain global talent while navigating complex U.S. immigration regulations in a compliant and strategic manner.
Prior to practicing immigration law in the United States, Mr. Kim accumulated more than nine years of experience as an in-house counsel in South Korea. In that role, he worked closely with business, finance, and operations teams, as well as outside counsel, on corporate legal matters, disputes, and regulatory issues.
His in-house career provided him with a strong understanding of business operations, risk management, and the practical concerns of corporate decision-makers. In recognition of his professional achievements, he was selected as a finalist for In-House Lawyer of the Year at the ALB Korea Law Awards in both 2019 and 2020.
As a U.S. immigrant himself, Mr. Kim brings a unique, firsthand perspective to his immigration practice. He understands the legal, professional, and personal challenges faced by foreign professionals and sponsoring employers, and approaches each case with both technical precision and practical sensitivity. He is fluent in Korean and regularly assists clients with matters involving Korean-language documentation and cross-border communications.
Mr. Kim earned his Juris Doctor from Handong International Law School and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. He is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the American Bar Association (ABA).
